A little like the entrants in the Red Bull Soapbox Race, UK System Scaffold Hire’s Public Access Staircases come in all shapes and sizes.
However, unlike the soapboxes, UKSSH’s Public Access Staircases are guaranteed to perform to the highest standards every time.
The staircase installed by UKSSH and Tamworth Scaffolding at the Alexandra Palace in London for the Red Bull Soapbox Race 2022 may have been far from the largest Public Access Staircase the two companies have installed, (in fact UKSSH had been involved with erecting two much larger public access staircases for events in London the same weekend), but it was designed to safely carry thousands of spectators up and down a steep bank so – despite its modest size – it still had to comply with the strictest safety standards.
The thousands of spectators, who descended on Alexander Palace to watch seventy teams of amateur racers from all over the world compete in the annual event, watched with glee as one soapbox after another disintegrated as they careered along the downhill course.
As Jem Winstone of Tamworth Scaffolding commented: “In many ways this project epitomises much of what we do: It may not be a huge staircase which grabs headlines, but nonetheless it delivers a fully compliant solution which is a vital component of a successful event.”
