SYS AND UKSSH CONTINUE BUILDING BRIDGES ACROSS THE COUNTRY

SYS (Scaffolding Contractors) Ltd and UK System Scaffold Hire’s collaboration to build a temporary footbridge at Bridlington Station in Yorkshire is the latest example of the two companies working together to optimise the benefits of the Haki Bridge System.

A multi-million pound refurbishment of the station (which was built in 1912) involves the construction of a revamped footbridge with lifts to make it easier for passengers with limited mobility, pushchairs, bikes or heavy luggage.

SYS were tasked with providing a temporary footbridge to enable passengers to continue to access the station’s platforms while the work is carried out.

Their solution was to build the Haki Temporary Footbridge adjacent to the station platform in normal working hours and to use a single possession to crane-lift the bridge into position on to two Haki Public Access Staircases that SYS had erected on each side of the track on Platform 4 and Platform 5/6.

The finished bridge and Public Access Staircases were fully compliant - with colour-coded non-slip nose-grips, double DDA handrails, anti-climb cladding and tactile strips – the pattern of raised surfaces designed to warn people with sight loss of any dangers or obstacles they may be approaching, such as a crossing, steps, or the edge of a train station platform.
