UKSSH AND SAFE EDGE SHARE COMMITMENT TO SAFETY

UKSSH is supplying well over 250 rising metres of stair towers per month to Safe Edge Ltd, the Sheffield based company that has been providing innovative edge protection for over 25 years.

Safety is at the heart of everything that UK System Scaffold Hire does. From ensuring that UKSSH only supplies genuine Haki components (important for peace of mind, important for safety and important if you want to meet the highest compliance requirements) to the company’s total commitment to delivering safe systems of work on every project - so it can be no surprise that UKSSH develops strong relationships with like-minded companies whose entire ethos is based on safety and compliance.

A founder member of the Edge Protection Federation (EPF), Safe Edge Ltd was formed in 1989 with the aim of offering a safe and flexible edge protection system to steel framed buildings in the roofing industry.

Prior to 1989, there was no legal requirement for edge protection. Safe Edge saw a niche in the market and introduced a system that could accommodate the varying types of steelwork that were in use throughout the UK. Over the years, as steelwork details have changed, Safe Edge has kept pace with the industry, developing and testing several types of clamp to ensure that they can accommodate the majority of steelwork details.

The Safe Edge System not only conforms to the WAHR but also with the European Standard for edge protection BS EN 13374:13. This standard is now used as a guideline for the industry by most major contractors and is also recognised by the HSE.

In addition to edge protection, Safe Edge supplies and installs safety nets, roof access towers, permanent free-standing handrails, demarcation edge protection and fall arrest systems.
