UKSSH CARRIES THE LOAD

When NJS Scaffolding Ltd were tasked with displaying three CAT excavators at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, they asked UKSSH to turn logic on its head. The result was a Loading Platform delivering a load capacity of 2.5 tonnes per square metre.

It’s no surprise that the current building boom has seen the demand for UKSSH’s Loading Towers and Loading Platforms rocket. Using a fraction of the components needed for a comparable tube and fittings structure, UKSSH Loading Towers and Loading Platforms are as durable and versatile as they are quick and economical, achieving high loads and coping easily with various lift heights while invariably looking one of the smartest scaffolds on site. In their usual environment UKSSH Loading Towers and Loading Platforms are normally seen with excavators beavering away in front of them.

However, when NJS Scaffolding Ltd were tasked with helping to build the extremely popular Thakeham family treasure hunt at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, they had to devise the best way to offer ‘little builders’ the chance to operate one of three full-size diggers. That meant NJS Scaffolding Ltd needed to construct a load bearing platform with public access to elevate the fully electric CAT excavators above the crowds. NJS Scaffolding Ltd liaised with UKSSH whose solution was “simply” to turn the loading platform logic on its head.

The same benefits were still vital: Fewer components meant the stand looked good from all angles – and also meant erection was fast and economical, while the load capacity of 2.5 tonnes per square metre meant that the three excavators were easily accommodated…the only difference was that on this occasion the excavators were on the top of the platform, rather than at ground level.

An additional benefit was UKSSH’s expertise in Public Access Staircases which meant that NJS Scaffolding Ltd had total confidence that, with 200,000 visitors over four days, the stand was fully compliant with all legal safety requirements.
