School enrolment took on an entirely different meaning when IBN Scaffold Access Ltd and UKSSH collaborated to provide a 42-metre x 23-metre temporary rolling roof on a building project at Fox Hill School in Sheffield.
The requirement to complete the build during school holidays and at the same time to ensure that the work didn’t restrict the use of the school grounds meant that IBN and UKSSH had to devise a solution that was both quick to erect and had minimal impact on the surrounding site, but the companies passed the test with flying colours by designing a rolling temporary roof.
UKSSH invited the IBN project team to their Tamworth depot to demonstrate the rolling roof prior to erection on site – and the solution ticked all the boxes, as Brent Davis, Operations Director at IBN Scaffold Access Ltd, explains:
“We already knew that the Haki temporary roof has fewer components and is up to five times quicker to install than traditional structures, but by adopting the rollout method UKSSH demonstrated how the entire roof could be built from a safe working platform, using full collective fall prevention methods, and then rolled into position. This meant that our work had a minimal impact on the surrounding area, enabling the school grounds to remain open for use.”
The completed roof – including both gable ends – was fully sheeted to provide maximum protection against the elements.
