UKSSH’s first collaboration with Addington Formwork, one of the UK’s leading groundwork and concrete frame contractors, involved the supply of a 100 metre stair tower for their prestige project constructing Hundred Kensington at 100 West Cromwell Road - a mixed-use development in London W14.
Hundred Kensington comprises seven residential blocks offering studios, one, two and three bedroom apartments, along with a number of duplex apartments and three and four bedroom houses.
At its centrepiece is a 33 storey residential tower, which is set to become the tallest building in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the construction of which required the 100 metre Haki Site Stair Tower.
The considerable leg loads at the base of the stair tower could have been accommodated by using triple standards for the first 12 lifts, but Bracknell based Addington Formwork worked alongside UKSSH to incorporate Haki Tripod heavy duty supports into the design instead: the solution was to use Haki Tripods for the first 24 metres of the stair tower and then use Haki standards for the remainder of the tower.
Not only did the resulting stair tower look neater, but using Haki tripods also reduced the number of components and man hours for that part of the build by 90%.
