JFM Scaffolding collaborated with UKSSH to erect a Haki temporary roof over Lewtrenchard Manor while the luxury hotel was undergoing an extensive renovation project.
Nestled in a secluded valley beneath the wild tors of Dartmoor National Park, Lewtrenchard Manor is a Jacobean house that is steeped in history and virtually untouched by time.
While the 400 year old building was undergoing an extensive refurbishment by its new owners, JFM Scaffolding was tasked with providing a temporary roof that could withstand the worst weather that the wild Devon moors could throw at it.
In fact, the Haki temporary roof had to endure the worst weather in living memory and kept the building watertight despite 82 mph winds, followed by huge amounts of snow (“courtesy” of Storm Bert) and a further two named storms after that!
It is testament to JFM Scaffolding and the Haki roof that while one storm after another raged outside, work continued to totally strip the slate roof, including removing the lead from the valleys, before being reroofed and repairs undertaken to the gutters, chimneys and cornicing.
JFM viewed the adverse weather as total vindication of their decision to hire a Haki temporary roof from UKSSH: “While weatherproofing may have been the overriding requirement, it was not only the Haki roof but also UKSSH’s customer support that was important. The quality of the product is more than matched by UKSSH’s commitment to customer service and providing technical support.”
