Combining 1.25 metre bays with a 2.5 metre roof was both highly effective and aesthetically pleasing.
J Gunn Scaffolding’s long-standing relationship with UKSSH has resulted in many successful and innovative collaborations demonstrating the benefits of Haki systems, but Jon Gunn, the company’s Managing Director, believes their recent project at Luton Train Station was the perfect demonstration of how two heads are often better than one.
The scaffolding was required to support a Haki temporary roof to facilitate the replacement of the roof of the station’s switch room (which runs the track system at King’s Cross) which stands adjacent to the tracks. Consideration had to be given both to the stability of the building once the roof was removed and the significant airflow effect from passing trains.
In addition to significant kentledge, rigidity and stability was achieved by erecting the scaffolding in 1.25 metre bays with a 2.5 metre roof erected using every second truss.
Jon Gunn says, “The result was both highly effective and aesthetically pleasing and demonstrated once more that with fantastic teamwork Haki systems deliver solutions that are both cost effective and innovative.”
