MAIDSTONE SCAFFOLDING AND UKSSH SHOW THEIR COMMUNITY SPIRIT

Nazareth House in Hammersmith first opened its doors in 1857 and the Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth has ensured that the care home has remained at the heart of the community in Hammersmith ever since.

The magnificent Victorian building is now being completely refurbished to meet modern care needs: As well as wider corridors, all bedrooms will have ensuite wet rooms and most rooms will be larger.

The challenge was to deliver the refurbishment with minimal disruption to the home’s 95 residents, so when Maidstone Scaffolding was tasked with the erection of a 15 metre tall public access stair tower as an integral part of the project, it wasn’t just the design of the bespoke public stair tower that had to be carefully considered – Maidstone Scaffolding also had to ensure that the build was completed in a manner that caused minimal disturbance to residents and staff.

The completed stairs required varying exit levels which meant that the scaffold design had to deviate from the “standard” PAS configuration, but the resulting staircase perfectly demonstrated the adaptability of Haki’s public access staircase.
